Kia Niro Service Reset (2016–2022)

The Kia Niro displays a service reminder based on the vehicle’s maintenance schedule. After performing routine service such as an oil change, the reminder can be reset through the instrument cluster menu.

Applicable Vehicle

  • Make: Kia
  • Model: Niro
  • Generation: DE
  • Years: 2016–2022
  • Procedure type: Service indicator reset

Preparation

Before resetting the service reminder, ensure the vehicle is safely parked and the ignition is switched on. On push-button start models, this means activating the electronics without starting the engine.

  • Do not start the engine during the reset process.
  • Use the steering wheel controls to navigate the instrument display.
  • The reset option is located in the service interval menu.

How to Reset the Service Reminder on Kia Niro

  1. Switch the ignition on without starting the engine.
  2. Use the steering wheel buttons to open the instrument cluster menu.
  3. Navigate to User Settings.
  4. Select Service Interval.
  5. Choose the option to Reset the service reminder.
  6. Confirm the reset when prompted.
  7. The service interval should now restart and the warning message should disappear.

If the Service Reminder Does Not Reset

  • Verify that the ignition is switched on but the engine is not running.
  • Make sure the reset is confirmed when the system asks for confirmation.
  • If the message remains, switch the ignition off and repeat the procedure.
  • Check that the correct menu is selected inside the service interval settings.

Additional Maintenance Procedures

If you own a Kia Niro from this generation, additional maintenance procedures may apply depending on equipment and model year.
