Step-by-step

  1. Two-button method: hold the trip reset — With the ignition off, press and hold the trip '0.0' reset button (the left cluster/stalk reset).
  2. Switch the ignition on and release — Turn the ignition on while holding, then release. A service prompt appears (for example 'Service now / Reset?' or 'OIL').
  3. Choose oil or inspection — Use the right-hand minute/clock button to scroll between Service OIL and Service INSP (the full 'Service now'). Confirm the inspection item for a full reset, or the oil item for oil-only, by pressing the 0.0 button again. Switch the ignition off.
  4. Menu method (digital cockpit) — With the ignition on, open the cluster menu via the steering-wheel view/OK buttons, or the infotainment: Vehicle/Car → Settings → Service (some cars: Settings → Reset → Service reminder) → confirm the reset.

Important

  • The button/menu reset only clears the countdown to a default value. After a variable 'Longlife' service the interval should be re-seeded with VCDS/ODIS so the algorithm calculates the next service correctly.
  • Reset only after the service is done; the reminder tracks a real interval.
  • If a warning light is on rather than a service message, that is a fault and needs the diagnostic trouble codes read.
